First order of business is getting an architect - ideally the original architect at Little Horn - to stamp the pre-existing building plans as still valid, so we can renew the permits and move forward. We're waiting on a call back. Our first contact with this original architect didn't go so well - understandably, he is pissed that the previous owners bailed on the job, didn't pay him, and now we have his very expensive, custom-drawn-to-the-site plans for free. So if he doesn't get on board with us finishing the plans, we'll need to find another architect who will. We have some modifications we need to make and it would be MUCH easier to start with the original guy and his plans. So, my fingers are crossed. The sooner we get this accomplished, the sooner we can get our roof on, protecting the current construction from the snowfall that is already coming down and will only increase. Might as well save what's structurally sound while we can...

Quandary Peak, Here We Come!
We have been waiting, waiting, W-A-I-T-I-N-G to get news on our mountain house. Made another trip up there to scope out the site. Poured over the architectural layout. Talked about modifications. Got estimates on our first steps like roofing, permits, windows, siding, framing rework, etc... Picked a few back-up lots. Even made offers on two back-up lots. And today, not only did one of our back-up offers get accepted, our first offer on what will eventually be our dream house FINALLY got accepted! And of course my husband is hunting in Michigan so we can't properly celebrate together until Sunday night. This was a real test of patience as well as weighing pros and cons of different options over the last two months. It was an exercise in negotiation and compromise in a marriage with two stubborn people about a decision full of excitement and emotion. And we came out on top with a bright, shiny plan for the future and big ideas and dreams for this new home. Watching the new Warren Miller ski film - Intervention - last week overly, ridiculously solidified my love for this beautiful state, especially it's unique mountains and friendly, fun-loving people. We're going to have a house on a 14er woo!
