Behind on the blog, but not on the house!

I'm way behind here but we've made progress on all the big stuff in our house. Drywall was finished last Monday and we had a successful inspection. The drywallers started taping that day and they will be finished with the hand-scraped wall texturing on Saturday. Our well guy was also at our house last Monday getting things ready for water and heat in the house, and we have a functioning sink inside for the first time! It's just a utility sink in the boiler room, and the water is still orange, but it's progress. We hung our house numbers. We're almost done with the rock walls surrounding the garage. We ordered our paint - 15 big buckets! We have put down mortar and screwed down backerboard in all of the bathrooms, laundry room, mudroom, pantry, wine room, entry, hallway and kitchen and those rooms are just waiting to be tiled. We had a log in our yard cut into huge planks and rounds and hung a mantel from one of the pieces. We started and are almost finished putting together kitchen cabinets. Curt re-framed the wall in the upstairs closet that we will put a door in sometime in the future...a door that opens up to what may eventually be a library of sorts. We even have a few outlets and lights installed inside and out. Lots and lots is going on and I need to catch up on the photos. I'll upload photos of the drywall, rock wall, mantel and other big stuff this week. Here are a few photos of some of the little stuff we've been chipping away at.

Curt and JJ re-framing this wall so we can add a door later

You can see here that the door will be on the back wall of the closet of that bedroom to the left

This and all the other exposed wood beams in the house will be sanded and stained this weekend before we paint and put in flooring

  1. Oh my gosh! You have been kicking serious butt! No wonder you haven't had time to post updates. I can't wait to see the progress pics, since it sounds like it all looks totally different now!
