Raw

That refers to my nose (I'm getting over a cold), our weather over the weekend AND the new shelf on our half wall in the living room. It is exactly what I wanted, and I took a bunch of pictures of it! Unfortunately, I didn't take any photos of how the shelf was made. A wide, square notch had to be cut into the bottom of the wood plank. It wraps over the ledge and overhangs on both sides. When we had our fallen tree cut into planks and made a mantel out of one of them, I knew I wanted to use the same wood on our half wall. Maybe not for symmetry, but because I just love how it looks. Last Sunday, it finally was put in place. We still need to stain or somehow treat the surface, but I think we'll leave the raw bark edge, well, raw.

  1. I feel your pain! We had -19 last week. Not what we signed up for! :-)

Ooooh... love that shelf. So pretty. Can't wait to catch up on all of your progress lately!

    1. I bet you've been keeping your fire hot hot hot! Luckily the cold snaps rarely last long here, but it's annoying when my dogs don't even want to go outside!
